I'm Committed to Equity & Inclusion

This is far past due, but I want to make my stance clear.

I am committed to creating a space that is as inclusive and equitable as possible. This means I pledge to continue doing my work to be aware of and break down my own privileges, be open and honest about my limitations as a privileged provider, and show up to your individual needs.

As an organization and individual, I have not done enough to create a space to nurture equity, inclusion, and liberation. I take responsibility and sincerely apologize for the harm I have caused in perpetuating narrow stereotypes of eating disorders and who receives care. I am committed to standing up to and dismantling white supremacist systems and cultures. I stand for the rights of all, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age, size, physical and mental abilities, and sexuality.

Here’s what I’m doing to continue my anti-racism work:

  • Seeking out literature and media from BIPOC leaders

  • Paying BIPOC clinicians for supervision and consultation

  • Donating to groups that support folx in marginalized identities

  • Offering scholarships and reduced fee spots for folx in marginalized identities

  • Becoming credentialed with Medicare in Colorado to expand access to care

  • Supporting Black and POC businesses

  • Co-sponsoring anti-oppression trainings (led by BIPOC community members) for the Denver community through iaedp (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals)

  • Centering and listening to BIPOC voices

  • Paying for and attending anti-racist trainings

  • Financially donating to and facilitating BIPOC dietetic students to promote diversity in the profession

I look forward to continuing the conversation and hearing your thoughts. Please, please reach out if you’d like to talk or have questions. Rooting for all of us, always.
